Combate Americas: Breaking Down Their Two Big fights

The #1 promotion in all Latin America; Combate Americas returns this Friday night! Since the promotions inception by Campbell McLaren in 2011, it has went on to grown by absolute leaps and bounds, and despite having a slow start, they’ve now rebounded strong and are riding an absolute freight-train, managing to pull in 400,000+ views per event, and these numbers are only on the up and up, because of the increasingly high viewing figures, and the fact that they’re basically the only promotion in Latin America, they are one of the hottest growing sports properties in the marketplace and this Friday night they will return to Hidalgo, Texas for a pretty sick card. That’s why we’re here to break down the two big fights you should pay attention to.

Striker VS Grappler with title implications

In the main event, top featherweight brawler; Ricky Palacios (11-1) is stepping up to fight submission wizard Cooper Gibson (9-2).  Both men are looking to put on an a jaw-dropping performance and impress both the fans and matchmakers, so that they can secure a potential title shot against the winner of next weeks; Quintana VS Cannetti, who are fighting for the vacant featherweight title.

Ricky Palacios

Ricky ‘El Gallero’ Palacios is currently riding a slick eight fight win streak, with the majority of his wins coming by way of KO stoppage. He’s a great kickboxer and he’s an all-round brawler who always puts on a show and goes for broke, Gibson on the other hand brings an impressive grappling game, and possesses a wide arsenal of submissions; with most of his wins coming by way of submission. Gibson too, is on an astounding run, he has won nine of his last ten bouts, and if you watch him fight, he is always looking to drag the fight to the mat and secure the finish. He’s quite exciting on the canvas too, instead of just wreslting anf griding, he’s always actiblet seeking the submissona and aggressing.

It’s a fun matchup that Combate have developed here, and a real throw-back to the old-school MMA days as the aggressive striker seeks to defeat the mystical grappling wizard.

Crazy brawler VS Crazy brawler

With the main event promising us an old-fashioned striker VS grappler matchup, the co-main works to be the opposite of this, with two crazy brawlers in Alejandro Martinez (4-3) and Enrique Gonzalez (7-3) looking set to engage in a war of attrition, just for the fun of it. Without going into the nitty-gritty of each competitor’s career, both warriors are pure striking specialists who engage in Justin Gaethje-esque wars. Both have real one-hit kill KO power and love to stand and bang, so you’re almost guaranteed crazy entertainment when these two get locked into the cage together.

The fight’s are being shown live on both DAZN and Univision, so if you’re a fist fight fan, chances are that you’re already paying for the fights on DAZN. So why not spend your free Friday night by tuning in to watch some of Latin Americas finest fighters, engage in slug-fests?
