The Rundown: Everything You Need To Know About CW 107

Cage Warriors 107 takes place tonight (Saturday 28th September) in Liverpool Exhibition Centre.  It seems that this card is uncharacteristically sparse when compared to previous Liverpool outings by the promotion. There will be no pro prelim card for this event, going straight from the amateur prelims to the main card.

Seemingly fraught with troubles, this card has seen several drop outs and last minute changes. Manchester’s “Smooth” Sam Spencer pulled out of the event due to an unfortunate injury whilst training; having snapped his bicep. He has undergone successful surgery and is currently recovering. Liverpool’s own Adam Ventre has already lost two different opponents for this event. His first opponent, SBG Manchester’s Martin Stapleton pulled out of the event due to a family emergency, and replacement fighter Arman Popal has been deemed medically unfit to fight.

A last minute replacement in the form of Antanas Jazbutis has taken the fight with Ventre on 24 hours notice. It’s also worth noting that the bout will be a 175lb Catchweight fight, with Ventre officially weighing in at 161.9lbs. He had however previously weighed in at 155.7lbs for the Popal fight and ceased his weight cut before the change in opponent was announced.

Liam Gittins weighed in 2lbs over the flyweight limit for his fight with Jake Bond. Bond and his team refused to accept the fight on the grounds of missing weight and so the bout has been scrapped from the card.

The amateur undercard has not been spared from it’s issues either, with Manchester fighter and teammate of Sam Spencer, Tom Wright losing his opponent Sam Gittins to injury. A replacement was found and was willing to fight Wright at 145lbs instead of 135 but he unfortunately got injured the same day and had to pull from the fight. Due to stopping his weight cut to make 145, no opponents were found that were willing to face Wright in a Catchweight bout and as a result he has been removed from the card. Cage Warriors 107 seems to be the card that never was, for Manchester Predator fighters

We do however have an exciting event nonetheless, with Tom Aspinall (6-2) coming off a devastating win over Sofiane Boukichou via leg break TKO at Cage Warriors 101. Aspinall is a highly touted prospect in the UK MMa scene and a teammate of Darren Till. In this outing Aspinall will be facing Michael Ben Hamouda (2-0) in the main event slot.

Also on the card, Tim Barnett takes on Donovan Desmae at Lightweight, Adam Proctor faces Olli Santalahti at Welterweight, Pietro Menga and Luke Shanks face off at Flyweight and Adam Wilson faces Mack Promanee at Bantamweight.

The event will feature Roger Gracie black belt and BJJ standout Dan “The Raspberry Ape” Strauss on guest commentary and a meet and greet with prominent faces, old and current from the Cage Warriors roster, Chris Fishgold, Molly McCann and Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett.

Cage Warriors 107 Main Card kicks off tonight at 9pm local time, exclusively on UFC FightPass
